Age: 26

How long have you been coming to NCF? Two years this September.

Why did you join CrossFit? To be honest I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. I was looking to get involved in something that allowed me to be competitive and feel like an athlete again. CrossFit does that. It allows you to be an athlete while still getting the support and accountability from others around you.

What is your most challenging move in CrossFit?
Anything gymnastics related.

What is your favorite CrossFit move? I love anything with the barbell. It’s a lot of fun to work on each movement and then to be able to add more and more weight.

What are your future goals?
Honestly, I would really love to compete as an individual… maybe next summer sometime? Its scary to put that out there…

What’s your favorite thing about Newberg CrossFit? I know this gets said time and time again, but the community at NCF is amazing. I wouldn’t still be coming in day after day if it weren’t for this group of wonderful human beings.

What was your reaction when Doug told you that you’d been chosen as our Spotlight Athlete? Shoot I think I hit him- lovingly of course 🙂 but I am really grateful that Abby and Doug chose me to be the Spotlight Athlete!

Doug telling Britnee that she’s the Spotlight Athlete…and after she smacked him, lovingly.

From Doug and Abby:

“Brit is really incredible. At the beginning, she was a bit inconsistent with CrossFit. She’d come for a few months and then disappear for a little while then come back for a couple months. I asked her to come back one day, after I hadn’t seen her for several months. We ended up talking on Facebook and decided to meet in person. She came over to our house a few days later and we had a real heart to heart about goals and life and where she wants to be and what it will realistically take to achieve that.

Since that day she has been consistent at the gym. Working hard and eating right. That was 3 months ago. She’s lost almost 50 lbs. by being dedicated to the process and willing to do things she doesn’t like so she can get to where she wants to go.

That says a lot about who she is and what she’s like outside of the gym. And we are lucky to be around someone like Brit. She is the kind of person I want to be like everyday.”

Is there anything else you’d like to say? I feel so incredibly blessed that I have found a home with NCF. The coaching staff is amazing, each one of them are so encouraging and would do anything to help a member reach their goals. The love and support that Abby and Doug have shown me is unlike anything I have experienced before. I am so thankful for the both of them.

Congratulations Britnee on being our September Spotlight Athlete.
